Nintendo currently has stock of standalone Switch docks on its ; available for $59.99, the dock would be a perfect solution for anyone wishing to play their console across two TVs, or as a replacement for any broken units. They don't come with an HDMI cable or an AC adapter, so you'll have to source those yourself, but you can grab the Switch dock below if you'd like one: Standalone Switch docks are strangely hard to come by and aren't usually in stock at all. Back in June 2017, a Switch dock that did include the necessary AC adapter and HDMI cable launched in the UK for £79.99, but they've been for as long as we can remember.

In Nintendo BackPack Getting another ac adapter and hdmi cable is a lot easier. Quite easy to unplug and carry the dock.

I'd wait until a potential dock 2.0 I'll never understand Nintendo's decision to make second docks hard to come by. You know, for the fact you might have multiple rooms in your house but only the one Switch?

I got a Genki Covert Dock a while ago because of this, and it's been perfect for the living room. Because there's no ideal spot on our TV display for a vertical dock, being able to connect the Switch using just a USB-C cable is ideal.

I bought White dock ACNH edition from Tokopedia for Rp 587,000 or US$ 41.76 My spidey senses say they're clearing stock before the new Switch Pro which has a new dock.
It can be a hassle to re-locate the dock every time you want to play the Switch on a different TV set, even in your own home. Oh, and that Genki Covert Dock works with more than just the Switch.

It works with my laptop too and some newer phone models, the USB-C cable provides both video over HDMI and power. I have two docks and in both the little plastic hinges of the back plate are broken.

I know there were bricking fears regarding 3rd party docks during year 1, but those have mostly been resolved. Just don't skimp on th AC adapter itself, and make sure its the official from Nintendo. Really hope that UK one comes back, having a second one downstairs would be absolutely great and it comes with all the bits and bobs.

I need to buy a nice portable one for whenever Covid is over and I'm playing party games with people again. It's a pain ti unhook the dock everytime, but I was kinda spooked after the whole "third party docks bricking consoles" thing sure but most of the hassle comes from the wires. Keep them connected and you're good to go Get one on Amazon Japan if you want a complete set.

Yeah, but thats the general business model with all the console manufacturers. Nintendos profit margin for the Switch itself is somewhere around 10% or less, they make most money on games and accessories with high profit margins.

For that price, I'd have to recommend getting the Genki covert dock instead, considering it's a travel dock. Like, there's a reason it's that expensive (the dock does contain expensive electronics to make it work) But Nintendo still could almost certainly sell it for less and still profit. Probably no less than 40 though.

I thought the dock was cheap and then read about the power adaptor and HDMI cable not being included, the price makes sense now. Had heard rumours Nintendo weren't bothering making more docks because the Switch Pro is coming but that's just a rumor I guess. I’ve got 2 docks and 3 chargers.

That's where I get peace and quiet to play games and everyone else can have the TV, but I've been wanting a second dock as I have Ring Fit Adventure and my girlfriend wants to play it and there's more space in the living room. The fact I need to unplug everything to take it downstairs each time is rather annoying.

Moreover, it includes adapters for international power outlets so it's suitable for travel, and supports more devices than just the Nintendo Switch. HDMI cable not included but people tend to have spares or can buy one cheap.
The only real downside is that it only has a single USB port compared to the three ports present on the official dock. These things are ridiculously overpriced for what they are.

I picked up a portable dock for €25 awhile back. Very handy for throwing into my Switch carry case. in the beginning of switch Life there were a lot of reports of unofficial dock/chargers bricking the console.

Looking it up, there seems to be very rare instances of system bricks connected to the Genki Covert Dock.
At best, maybe 4 bricks reported from over 26,000 units from the Kickstarter campaign alone. The early bricks were caused by third party docks that did not properly adhere to the Power Delivery protocol that the Switch uses, or cheap components.

Without it, playing my Switch downstairs, especially for Ring Fit sessions, would be much more of a hassle. more like 20 with no adapter YO, the Nintendo Switch Dock Set (including a Nintendo Switch dock, Nintendo Switch AC adapter and high-speed HDMI cable) was available in US.

You shouldn't really need a second pair of joy cons, depending on your case they're easy enough to take with the switch. I get not coming with a HDMI cord but no charger... smh.

I’ve been wanting one with a charger for awhile now so I don’t have to keep unhooking mine and resetting it up. I often take my Switch over to friends and family. While it is the easiest to transport out of any system I started doing that with, a spare dock with charger would make it ideal.

Wasn't really in the market for one - my son bought a Switch for college then left the dock home b/c the only screens he uses are on his laptop and his phone, but he wanted the Joycon to play w/ other kids on campus so he went for the regular Switch, not the Lite, knowing if he bought a Lite he'd still need another controller to play on campus - Mario Kart and Smash are big there, as you probably could have guessed.

I dont' think I know a single person or family who has a Switch but not a 2nd set of Joycon. Though admittedly I mostly know families who own them, not single young adults, besides my son, who occasionally uses his Joycon from his Switch to play multiplayer on other people's Switch, which he wouldn't be able to do if he had gotten a Lite.

I’d like to pick up another, but was concerned with rumours of 3rd party ones bricking the Switch! No AC adapter makes me think that Nintendo intends this strictly as a replacement for an existing dock rather than a second dock, which seems an odd choice.

Nintendo don't want my Dock money, or maybe the are hoping we get switches for each room instead. I'd really fancy an official teeny tiny portable one I can carry with my switch when I break the lockdown to visit my imaginary friends in my dreams. Also I'd rather buy a nice bottle of whisky than pay £60 for a glorified USB charger with a hdmi cable.

Just get a new Switch. You’re gonna need the replacement Joycons anyway, plus you were just gonna get the base for $60, So $299-80-60 is a $159 switch (non-lite) for the other room or dog other to co-op.

What would be the point of trying to sell this if it would be as inconvenient as relocation the entire dock itself? This is ridiculous, considering the standard Joy Con grip is already expensive enough for a piece of plastic and some metal. 60 usd for piece of plastic?

Thanks, so far it seems to work fine on my monitor, no long sessions yet though. Yeah, that happened right when NIntendo service got shut down for awhile at the beginning of COVID, and by the time it had opened up again I forgot to tbh.
