Contest Spotlights Dementia' s Intergenerational Impact
Gen Z writers are encouraged to share the story of a loved one
Mayur Kakade/Getty Images More than 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias — a number that is expected to nearly triple in the next 40 years, . And as the number of people living with the devastating disease grows, so, too, will the pool of people who are affected by it, including younger generations. This spring, the nonprofit organization Hilarity for Charity, led by actor Seth Rogen and his wife, Lauren Miller Rogen, is shining a light on dementia's intergenerational impact, with a storytelling contest for high school and college students.

The challenge: To profile a loved one who's living with — or has passed away from — dementia, in 750 words or less. The goal: To tell a story that the loved ones may no longer be able to tell themselves and to raise awareness of the disease. Know someone who might be interested in entering?
