Development is clearly gathering pace since the prototype now sports sleek-looking production headlights and taillights. Previous rumors suggested the front lights will be designed as a homage to the old BMW 2002, but as you can see from the photos it features the familiar modern BMW look. Based on the next-generation 2 Series, the Gran Coupe version will bridge the gap between the 1 Series Sedan and the 3 Series Sedan and rival the next-generation Mercedes CLA.<br> With a length of around 14.7 feet, the Gran Tourer is roughly the same length as the 2 Series Gran Tourer MPV.

Previous rumors suggested the front lights will be designed as a homage to the old BMW 2002, but as you can see from the photos it features the familiar modern BMW look. Based on the next-generation 2 Series, the Gran Coupe version will bridge the gap between the 1 Series Sedan and the 3 Series Sedan and rival the next-generation Mercedes CLA.

It looks practically production ready, so don't be surprised if it launches early next year. Don&#39;t get your hopes up for a four-door BMW M2 though because recent reports claim that a full-fat M2 Gran Coupe won&#39;t be joining the 2 Series family, sadly.
