The new BMW 4 Series coupe continues to shock with its elongated grille, many believe the latest 2 Series Gran Coupe isn't as pretty as its Mercedes CLA rival, and in gaining more presence, the latest 7 Series has also found more detractors than before. But one BMW that doesn't need to hide its face is the M2. Its squat, sporty, compact shape is a reminder of smaller M3s in years gone by.

BMW seems to think the M2 is a pretty little thing too and the marque has just dropped a new gallery of the hardcore, limited-run M2 CS for us to admire. BMW BMW BMW BMW Unveiled late last year with the same 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged S55 six-cylinder engine found in the bigger M4 Competition, the M2 CS generates 444 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque.

It's paired with either a six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed DCT, helping the littlest M scoot to 60 mph in as fast as 3.8 seconds. Along with its chuckable, sharp handling, it's an absolute blast to drive, and it looks that way, too.

These new images were taken at Sachsenring in Germany and show the CS painted in the exclusive Misano Blue metallic paint and with the available matt gold alloy wheels. BMW BMW BMW BMW Those wheels come wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. M-specific mirrors, quad-exit tailpipes, and a black grille round off one of the cheekiest cars that BMW makes.

Inside, although not as slick as BMW's newest cabins, the M2 CS is reassuringly familiar with its traditional rounded dials and physical knobs and switches for the climate control system and more. An M Sport steering wheel is a bit bigger than it should be but is tastefully finished in Alcantara. BMW BMW BMW BMW The racy Alcantara material extends to an insert on the dashboard and the sporty seats with the M striped stitched into the headrests look great.

An E23 BMW 7 Series was the first car he fell madly in love with three decades ago, and this affection for Autobahn-conquering luxury sedans has persisted. Following studies in copywriting and journalism, along with stints in TV scriptwriting and marketing that had far too little to do with cars, Karl kept the fire burning by writing for automotive websites on the side, including a Florida-based auto repair shop and another for Porsche enthusiasts. It all came together when he joined CarBuzz in 2019.
