Although the new Vette is already capable of a 194 mph top speed right out of the box, the Texas tuner added a stainless steel exhaust system a nitrous system that not only increased overall horsepower by 135 ponies but also allowed it to break that monumental speed limit. It didn't take long for Hennessey to race its modified C8 against Dodge Charger Hellcat and a Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, but now it's taken the competition up a notch directly to supercar territory.

This latest drag race matchup pits the Hennessey's C8 against a bone stock Lamborghini Huracan. However, is this really a fair test?

Just look at the output numbers. Hennessey Performance/YouTube Hennessey Performance/YouTube Hennessey Performance/YouTube The Huracan produces a total of 602 hp from its naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 while the C8, though modified, has 510 hp.

It's important to bear in mind this C8 is not the twin-turbo version totaling 643 hp the tuner is currently working on. Surely that'll be quite the comparison test when the time comes.

Just from watching this video you'll quickly observe how the C8 was faster at launch than the Lambo, but it later succumbed at around the 110 mph mark. Even in the rolling start at 40 mph, the Huracan lagged behind at first. In the end, the Huracan is simply too powerful to be beaten, at least in this case.

But why did it take even this long for the more powerful Lambo to pass the C8? Hennessey Performance/YouTube Hennessey Performance The likely answer is because its driver failed to launch it properly during the standing start, resulting in the C8 driver taking the instant glory.

Still though, even if this hadn't been the case, a close to stock C8 probably wouldn't have been completely demolished by the Huracan, just proving the significant leap forward the latest generation Corvette Stingray has taken over its predecessors. Hennessey has made it no secret its upcoming twin-turbo C8 program will be quite something, and we honestly can't wait for a rematch here.
