You might spend the time sightseeing, of course, wandering the streets with Google Maps at your side and trying depserately to not look quite so "touristy". You could relax in your hotel, read a book, watch a bit of Countdown, or simply chill out in the lobby with your trusty Switch while sipping on a caramel latte.

Our lovely video producer Alex decided to do something a little bit different after becoming stuck in Birmingham during Hookshot Media's Staff Day due to the railway strikes. He still played on his Switch, granted, but it was with a purpose. He set out to become a world-record speed runner - quite the feat, we're sure you'd agree!

The thing is, though..? He succeeded! After a bit of research and some tinkering with the hotel's mounted TV and his Switch settings (a white home theme?!), Alex settled on playing , a relatively quick game that wouldn't prove too much of an undertaking under the circumstances.

Speedrunning spooks me but the fact Alex was undeterred and used the time to enjoy a leisure activity and absolutely crushing it is impressive. The run is approved now, WR is official, congrats Alex. I loved this, such a fun vid!

I've actually been very interested in the Toree series for how dirt cheap they are and how surprisingly good they are for that price and this is another reason why. Great job Alex: I'd dare call it a lovely run!

My time was about three hours. Not terrible considering I had never done a speed run before, decided to start speed running the game once I reached the dessert kingdom( meaning 30 minutes of the run was me just fooling around in the cap kingdom and cascade kingdom) and had no route because of the previously mentioned start of the speed run.

Cool stuff! The closest I've gotten to like real speedrunning is Donkey Kong Country, but things like wrong warping and jumproll are above my skill level.

I have a feeling it coming out around the same time as Balan helped. Definitely a fun video. I almost want to try Speedrunning myself now but I a) am pretty sure I would go crazy and quit long before a world record and b) don't have a sane way to record my run for submission.

The game itself is very fun, although I prefer the first Toree game because it doesn't have those annoying trampoline sunbathing chair things. Great job Alex.
