Also on Monday, Conover issued a statement agreeing UA police proposed to her office two misdemeanor complaints on Dervish., deputies responded to the Pima County jail, located at 1270 W. Neither complaint, Conover argued, met the"evidentiary requirements" to charge Dervish with the crime of threatening and intimidation under state law."Just like if somebody died in my care, I would be charged for it.

The complaints brought by UA police in April and again in September did not have sufficient proof to meet that standard, and therefore no charges were filed,” Conover's statement read. Sheriff Chris Nanos says there’s been an average of eight deaths per year for the last 20 years. Alday is described as Hispanic, 6-feet-tall, 185 pounds, brown hair with a buzz cut and brown eyes.

Conover pointed to the lack of a red flag law in the state, arguing these measures allow for guns to be removed from those presenting a threat to themselves or others. “A Red Flag bill failed to pass in Arizona,” Conover’s statement read. Nanos says most of the inmate population has issues with mental health and substance abuse and should be in a hospital.
