In the EV market, it seems that only one thing matters right now – which car can sprint from 0-60 mph the fastest? Chinese startup Faraday Future made a bold claim earlier this year that the FF 91 was the fastest accelerating EV in the world – faster, even, than the Tesla Model S.

Soon after, Tesla reclaimed its crown, as the Ludicrous+ update enabled the Model S P100D to shatter all records. So, to settle the score Faraday Future and Tesla will be battling against each other this year at the Pikes Peak Hillclimb circuit.

The FF91 will be competing at this year&#39;s gruelling Pikes Peak International Hillclimb in July, where it will be facing off against a Tesla Model S P100D tuned by Unplugged Performance in the Pikes Peak Exhibition Class. At the helm of the FF 91 will be Pikes Peak newcomer Robin Shute, a Pro Mazda driver and Triple Crown winner of the 2016 Formula Car Challenge, while the Tesla will be driven by Daijiro Yoshihara who won the 2011 Formula Champion. Production of the FF 91 has been a uphill struggle with numerous setbacks including high profile executive exits and lawsuits, so it will be interesting to see if it can reach the top of the high altitude Pikes Peak mountain.

The Race to the Clouds kicks off on June 25th 2017, though it&#39;s not yet known when the FF 91 and Model S will compete. You&#39;ll also be able to live stream the race via Matchsports.
