Even as you hear rapid footsteps behind you, you don't stop. "Please let me put on your jacket, you can't get sick - it's too cold out and I know how easily you can catch a cold," you don't stop, "Y/N/N, please." Your stride stops and you're frozen in place as you hear his last sentence, each word spoken accompanied by a sob. Finally, you let yourself turn around to see him.

In his hands that were clenched so tight his knuckles were starting to turn white was your coat - the one that Shouto had actually gotten for you 'just because I saw it and thought of you'. You made no movements, allowing Shouto to slowly drape the coat around you, threading each of your arms through their specific sleeves. He lined the zipper up at the bottom and carefully zipped up your jacket, all the way until it almost touched your chin.

Shouto visibly flinches. "You mean," he swallows away some tears, "you mean you don't think what we have is worth it…?" At this point you're weeping, clutching the wrist of his right hand with both of yours and hanging onto it - like your life was worth it, because it was.

Aizawa doesn't even change out of his sleepwear before he comes to watch his students lunge, block, and parry, but you didn't hear that from him. And yet, here they all wear, more of his classmates' eyelids drooping than those with bright eyes and everyone's hair resembling the definition of 'bed-head'. It was a bit chilly this morning, so he - and the rest of his classmates - opted for the long-sleeved version of their gym uniforms which only made them all the more sleepy.

If you had to compare the experience of becoming friends with Shouto to anything, it would be like taming a wild animal. You had to show advances, very slowly yet deliberately, in order to gain his trust.

It was always the same - a low-lit fancy restaurant with white table-clothed tables, stale breadsticks, and women who did nothing but talk about how incredible it was that he was part of the top ten. Everytime Shouto would try to switch the conversation around, prompting questions about what they were interested in, what they do for a living, what they enjoy, his dates without fail would turn it back to him and how famous he was. So, he would be left with a deflated heart and a check that amounted to an average of $150 by the end of the night.
