The latest generation of Chevrolet trucks hasn't exactly been universally praised for their brash styling. Both the Silverado 1500 and the Silverado HD have been criticized for their blunt front-end looks, although neither can be accused of blending into the crowd. A new video by Pickup Truck Plus SUV Talk reveals spy shots of what was assumed to be the updated 2022 Silverado, with enough camouflage to indicate that its design could be significantly revised.

However, upon closer inspection, the new spy shots indicate that this may not be a Silverado at all, but rather, a GMC Sierra 1500. Pickup Truck Plus SUV Talk/YouTube Pickup Truck Plus SUV Talk/YouTube Pickup Truck Plus SUV Talk/YouTube As the two trucks share much in common and are nearly identical in size, we can understand how they can be confused, especially in profile.

For instance, just a few days ago, we learned that the Sierra's trick MultiPro tailgate will be coming to the Silverado, although this isn't clear in the video. The main styling feature that leads us to believe this is a Sierra is the design of the crease in the front door.

On this test mule, this line runs from below the mirror and rises as it moves towards the back, just as on the existing Sierra. By contrast, the Silverado's crease is more defined and flows in the opposite direction.

The shape of the camo covering the taillight clusters also follows the form of the Sierra's lights more closely than the Silverado. Pickup Truck Plus SUV Talk/YouTube Pickup Truck Plus SUV Talk/YouTube Pickup Truck Plus SUV Talk/YouTube The reviewer, who later admits that this is likely a Sierra, points out a new grille and a new side bed step for what looks to be a Double Cab body style. Hopefully, this useful feature makes it onto both the updated Sierra and the Silverado.

No spy shots were taken of the interior, although we expect that GM will improve the quality of the cabin, as both the Silverado and Sierra fall short of class leaders in this respect. We also anticipate the Silverado to come with an enhanced arsenal of driver-assist technologies.

Following studies in copywriting and journalism, along with stints in TV scriptwriting and marketing that had far too little to do with cars, Karl kept the fire burning by writing for automotive websites on the side, including a Florida-based auto repair shop and another for Porsche enthusiasts. It all came together when he joined CarBuzz in 2019.
