We'd previously reported that the weapon was actually by certain gamers before it got nerfed, which was pretty weird as shotguns are known to be and were actually made for close-quarter situations. Realistically, a regular shotgun isn't supposed to do much damage from anywhere past 50 or so yards and that's generally been the case where gaming's concerned. However, the 725 was very different.

Modern Warfare's devs have since nerfed it in a patch but, according to a video from YouTuber TheXclusiveAce, what was supposed to be a downgrade has actually made the weapon better. THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY Infinity Ward definitely did not want this but the 725 is still very effective from great distances.

Per the video, the pellet spread when aiming down the sights has been tightened, something which has made it so the range at which players can take out a target with one shot has actually been increased. Technically, the damage range per-pellet was reduced but with the tighter ADS spread, the range within which a kill can be registered with a single shot has been lengthened - as long as the gun is being shot without attachments.

Adversely, using it with attachments delivers the range Infinity Ward was looking for. Modern Warfare has done well in reviews so far but there are still a few chinks that need ironing out. The 725 conundrum happens to be just one of them and it wasn't the only weapon that was balanced in the 1.08 update.

The M4 was also tweaked in the latest patch but the majority of the changes impact gameplay and stability. Players have experienced crashes but those should be lessened, while adjustments have been made to the presentation of footstep noise. As such, the "walk" footstep sounds now play when aiming down sights, crouching or general slower movement.

A Reddit post has pointed to a hitbox issue that sees damage registered inaccurately. Infinity Ward is yet to acknowledge the issue officially but we should expect that it will be addressed too. Source:
