In 1980, swimmer Sue Walsh qualified for the U.S. Olympic team and thought she had fulfilled one of her dreams. But the pride and sense of accomplishment were short-lived since President Jimmy Carter decided the United States would boycott the 1980 games to protest Soviet military actions in Afghanistan.

She missed qualifying for the next summer games, in 1984, by .01 of a second. Today, Walsh is back in the water and is reclaiming some of her glory at the U.S. Masters Swimming Championships.
