Firstly, it is just about the 'oldest' new Italian sportscar you can buy. Its hardtop stablemate was introduced way back in 2007 and while minor updates have been carried out over the years, the GranCabrio is essentially based on a decade-old design.

Its naturally aspirated 4.7-liter V8 endows the heavy Cabrio with 454 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque. In a world of turbocharged rivals, it may not be the quickest thing around but that Ferrari-derived V8 gives it an exhaust note that is simply unmatched. Pogea Racing, a German-based tuner, decided that this granddaddy of supercars needed a new lease on life.

Pogea specialize in ECU remapping, bespoke exhaust systems, aluminum wheel manufacturing, carbon fiber body parts and interior retrimming. For the GranCabrio, it can offer customers any or all of these upgrades. In this particular car, the 4.7-liter V8 was massaged to produce 477 hp and 393 lb-ft, not a big step up but enough to help it reach 190 mph, handy if you happen to live close to an Autobahn.
It should also shave a tenth or two of the standard cars 4.8-second 0-60 mph time. Not particularly speedy but surely rapid enough for most. It is in the visual department where this car really shines though.

The bespoke black painted wheels sit a bit more snugly under the arches thanks to an aftermarket suspension lowering kit while grip is taken care of by a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. A carbon fiber front splitter adds some aggression to the standard bumper and there are a range of bespoke carbon fiber trim items available for the cabin too.

The exhaust system has not been changed from the stock GranCabrio, which is probably a good thing. It sounds totally awesome just as it is. With a (most likely turbocharged) replacement for this model set to be released in the near future, the Pogea Racing Maserati GranCabrio is a great swansong for the current car.
