The car has been in development since 2017, but will finally arrive soon. The Mercedes-AMG Project One just reached a pivotal point in its development cycle, where several pre-production models are conducting hot laps at the company&#39;s proving ground and technology center at Immendingen. It is the first time we&#39;ve seen official track footage of the car&#39;s impressive new hybrid power unit, which also uses a Formula One-inspired 1.6-liter V6.

As shown in the video, it also provides an exhaust note that is reminiscent of Lewis Hamilton&#39;s champion-pace F1 car. If the AMG One is as dominant on the road as its F1 sibling, other manufacturers should be worried.

Along with testing of the power unit, this track testing gave the engineers ample opportunity to work on the car&#39;s fully-functional active aerodynamics. All of the aero pieces including the louvers, air outlets, and rear spoiler were previously testing in a wind tunnel, but are now proving to be useful in a real-world scenario. Mercedes-Benz Mercedes-Benz Back at the Mercedes-AMG home base in Affalterbach, the company is still putting the car&#39;s other components through rigorous diagnostics on engine testbeds and the in-house simulator.
