The Jeepster name was first used by Willys-Overland back in 1948 for a passenger car that was designed to appeal to the masses. Production of the original Jeepster ended just two years later in 1950 before the name was later revived in 1966 for the C-101 Jeepster Commando, which stayed in production until 1972.

Rather than being the name of a new standalone model, Mopar Insiders reports a new special-edition version of the 2020 Jeep Renegade will be crowned as the Jeepster. Jeep Jeep Based on the entry-level Jeep Renegade Sport, the Jeepster will be fitted with several exterior enhancements including 19-Inch granite-painted aluminum wheels wrapped in all-season tires and gloss black rings on the grille instead of chrome ones.

Like every 2020 Jeep Renegade, the new Jeepster is powered by a 2.4-liter inline-four-cylinder engine paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and will be available in front-wheel or four-wheel drive. This setup produces 180 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. According to the publication, the Jeepster will cost an extra $1,895 over the Renegade Sport, meaning the front-wheel-drive version will start at $24,270 while the four-wheel-drive version will set you back $25,770, making it slightly cheaper than the well-equipped Latitude trim.
