Here's how to determine eBay status when it appears to be down

Here's what to do to find out and rectify the situation.
Check the eBay System Status Page
If you didn't see an error message on the eBay website or app, check whether eBay is down by going to its System Status page in a web browser. Open a web browser.

Go to the eBay System Status page. The System Status page presents a table that displays the nine functions, each of which has one of three symbols next to it. When the site is working correctly, each function has a green checkmark in front of it.If any site service is experiencing intermittent disruptions, the function has a blue Information (i) symbol next to it.When there is a complete eBay outage, the page displays a red exclamation mark (!).

That's it. If you see a blue i or a red !, eBay is down. If you see all green checkmarks, eBay is probably up, although there are other places to check.

Check the eBay Announcement Board
If the System Status page reports that the site is working correctly, but you're experiencing issues, check the eBay System Announcements Board. eBay posts notices of planned website maintenance, which might result in parts of the site going down or being inaccessible. Open a web browser.

The eBay System Status and System Announcements pages are not always up to date. Outages and disruptions impact eBay's ability to report site issues, and eBay may also be slower to detect and report such problems than its users are.

Check With Forums and Status-Checker Websites
Even when eBay shows that its website is running smoothly, check with the eBay discussion boards and other sites that track outages. It's still possible the eBay website is encountering difficulties, and this is something you can check from the eBay discussion boards and status-checker websites. The eBay discussion boards are sources of user-generated information regarding eBay and its operation.
