About this book
Die zunehmende internationale Integration und die unbefriedigende Entwicklung der Arbeitsmärkte sowie neue Ansätze zur Erklärung anhaltenden Wachstums haben in den letzten Jahren die Außenwirtschafts-, die Beschäftigungs- und die Wachstumstheorie in den Blickpunkt wissenschaftlichen Interesses gerückt. Eine Kombination der drei Theoriezweige ist bislang aber nicht erfolgt.
Um die Effekte der internationalen Integration zu ermitteln und die Möglichkeiten einer auf Wohlfahrtsmaximierung ausgerichteten Wirtschaftspolitik zu analysieren, verknüpft Florian Späte die genannten Theorien in einem umfassenden Modell endogenen Wachstums. Er zeigt, dass die Integration einen trade-off zwischen Beschäftigung und Wachstum begründet: Trotz steigender Arbeitslosigkeit kann ein Land Wohlfahrtsgewinne durch Integration realisieren.
