Check off both Stay Connected to the Internet and Enable Turning On of PS4 from Network options. Both of these features need to be enabled so the console can download and install updates when it's not in use. Go back to the Settings menu and select System.

If you don’t have your PS4 connected to your home network, you can still update the console by downloading the update to a USB drive and copying the file over. It's best to use a blank USB drive, as you'll most likely need to reformat it because the PS4 only recognizes the FAT32 and exFAT file systems. Format a USB drive in FAT32 or exFAT format.
