But how do you choose from so many out there? Turns out there’s no better place to look than the people who make repricing their sole business. At RepricerExpress, we’ll show you what you need to know when choosing a repricing tool.

The Repricer Should Support the Marketplace You Sell On

Finding a repricer that supports your most fundamental need — integration with your selling platform — is your primary criterion. It’s like only knowing how to drive an automatic transmission and renting a car in a country where they only have manuals available: you’re going to run into far more problems than it’s worth. As most repricers support the major Amazon marketplaces, they should theoretically be able to integrate with the other tools you use regularly, such as inventory management software.

Let’s stick with car analogies a bit longer.

Car manufacturers so badly want to get you behind their wheel, they appear to price their cars really cheaply. But if you look at the small print, you’ll see the payments are biweekly instead of monthly and the terms last more years than they used to, increasing the overall price by a significant amount.

The same can be said for repricers, albeit on a smaller scale. While a repricer doesn’t have to meet your budget exactly, it should come in pretty closely. Here are some questions to ask yourself:Are different pricing tiers available?

Whether you sell just a little or a whole lot, there should be different price tiers so you don’t pay more than you need to.Does it come with a free trial? Again, sticking with cars, you’d be incredibly hard-pressed to find someone willing to buy a car without test-driving it first, so nor should you invest in repricing software without seeing first how it works for you.

It’s also a good sign if the website has a tab that explicitly points you to their prices, and clearly outlines them and which features are available with which plan.Do you need a credit card to sign up for the free trial? This may be just a personal preference, but I hate signing up for a free trial when they demand my credit card information.

It feels like they’re just itching for me to forget when the free trial expires so they can start charging me, and it makes me feel like they’re only after my money instead of offering a decent service. How easy or complicated is it to cancel? If you’re not happy with something, prolonging the experience is only going to leave a worse taste in your mouth. You should have the ability to cancel with as few difficulties as possible.

The Repricer Should Process Data Quickly

In a nutshell, repricers work like this: Amazon sends information to the repricer about a pricing change, the repricer scans its rules to find a match, then it sends a file back to Amazon to automatically change a product’s price. However, how quickly this process happens depends on a few factors.

The first is how quickly your repricer responds to the Amazon notification. Some repricers may be set to respond at certain times, like how smartphones would save on battery and data usage by only pulling email messages at regular intervals. But because time is money, the better repricers process the notification immediately.

The next factor depends on how quickly Amazon can process the file sent back to them. It’s like emailing an album’s worth of pictures to someone versus sending a quick text. One simply takes longer than the other.

Good repricers will segment their files into smaller ones so Amazon can process them in a matter of minutes. Last is how often your repricer sends those files to Amazon, and again, this differs from repricer to repricer. Some will send them instantly while others will wait up to an hour to send them.
