The WRTH editions give the erroneous impression that T2FD antennas require a 500 ohm resistor and a 10:1 balun transformer, used with 50 ohm coax cable. There are these support ridges on the bottom of the part. 4 watts (neglecting possible core saturation and other non-linear effects).

After over 60 years as an amateur with many home-built antennas I have concluded that the wire Yagi is the best performing 40-meter antennas one can construct and maintain provided one has trees or other means to support the wire elements for a Yagi. Current baluns are the balun of choice in all but very specialized situations, because they work better than voltage baluns in most real-world systems. While RG-174 is our recommended lightweight co-ax, RG58 can also be used. All 4:1 impedance transformers use ferrite cores and the kit forms can be configured as a balun with balanced output of 200 ohms or as ununs with one side grounded.

Windom uses a 4:1 voltage balun, which matches the antenna's leg voltages and then uses a separate 1:1 choke balun to isolate the feed line from the vertical radiator. The easiest way to start building a 4:1 current balun is to order the AB240-250 K Mix Balun Kit from Amidon Associates.

The dipole antenna still remains the primal antenna. If you are feeding a low impedance load, such as an electrically short antenna then one option may be to use a 4:1 ratio balun in reverse.
