Power is rumored to come from a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that sends 302 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque out to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. We still don&#39;t know whether or not a manual, which was offered on the previous generation M135i, will be available on this new car.

Our spy photographers have captured close-up pictures of the new 1 Series&#39; interior, which will likely be the same interior found on the next-generation 2 Series, X1, and X2. By switching from a rear-wheel drive layout to an all-wheel drive system with a transversally mounted engine, the 1 Series will have more interior space. Based on what we can see in the photos, even BMW&#39;s entry-level model will use premium materials and a design closely resembling the larger 3 Series, albeit with a few obvious simplifications.

Looking down at the infotainment controller on the center console, it appears this test car is equipped with a more simplified iDrive controller than the one found on pricier BMWs.
