It&#39;s a pretty big deal when an automaker like Ford declares it&#39;s killing off once very popular cars like the Focus, Fusion, and Taurus in America. All three, especially used to comprise of a huge bulk of the automaker&#39;s US sales.

The reason being is that it still remains popular enough in Europe to justify its continued existence. &quot;We have upgrades coming for Mondeo later this year, which will see new powertrains as well as exterior and interior updates as well as enhancements to the Mondeo Hybrid range,&quot; the automaker stated.

The Mondeo is built in Europe, so it&#39;s entirely possible for it to live on once the Fusion, built in Mexico and previously in Michigan, is a goner. Other overseas Fords, specifically the S-Max and Galaxy minivans (both also built in Spain), still have an uncertain future. Given the uncertainty surrounding Brexit, Ford is also trying to figure out what to do with its 12,000 workers in the UK.

This figure includes factory workers, research and development, administration, and dealerships. For now though, the Mondeo appears to have life after the Fusion&#39;s impending death.

That very same Spanish production plant also builds the Kuga, which is nothing more than a renamed Escape. Eventually, the Mondeo will likely be phased out because of Ford&#39;s continued expansion of global models.
