The Ford Mustang Mach-E has been a huge success since the Blue Oval began accepting reservations back in late 2019. It was a bold decision to name and style its first-ever from the ground-up electric vehicle after its most iconic model, the Mustang. That bet has paid off and continues to do so.

In fact, two more upcoming EVs are seeing their launches delayed in order to boost Mach-E supplies. Automotive News has confirmed from an internal Ford memo that the production start dates of the fully electric Explorer and Lincoln Aviator SUVs are being delayed about 18 months.

"Our production system is very flexible by design, and we'll utilize multiple North American plants as we build out our future North American lineup." Major preparation is needed to make that happen. For example, Ford will be working with suppliers to boost supplies of critical Mach-E components like battery cells and electric drive systems.
