This video has the answer. As a successor to the fabled Ferrari 458, the 488 GTB had a lot to live up to.
Of course, aside from cosmetic changes, the single biggest change to the 488 GTB was the replacement of the 458's sublime, naturally aspirated engine with a turbocharged unit. Question is, has this given the 488 GTB a significant speed boost? To find out, Evo pitted the souped-up 458 Speciale against the 488 GTB in a special supercar showdown.

To compare the specs, the 488 GTB is fitted with a 3.9-liter turbocharged engine that delivers 669 horsepower and 560 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels, to give you a 0-62 mph time of three seconds and a top speed of 205 mph. Ferrari Its predecessor, the 458 Speciale, has a naturally aspirated 4.5-liter V8 developing 597 hp and 398 lb-ft of torque.

That makes it less powerful than its more modern equivalent (the 458 Speciale first launched in 2013), but it has the same 0-62 mph time as the 488 GTB and can reach a top speed of 202 mph. The forced induction of the 488 GTB's turbocharged engine gives it an obvious torque advantage, but is it enough to beat the 458 Speciale, which is considered to have one of the finest naturally aspirated engines of any supercar in the past decade?
