No price tag has been put on the models as of yet.

Below you can check out the 3 models: Mario White, Mario Silver and Mario Red & Gold (Limited Edition), and we sure do think they look fantastic, with our personal favourite being the Mario White 3DS XL. Not only do they look the part, but they also come pre-installed with and , so they can be enjoyed the minute you open the box. As usual, these 3DS XLs are region locked to China, so can't play games from Japan, Europe or North America.

The other two are relatively unremarkable, IMO. The Mario White one is nice. A fully white model with the pattern of the silver and red one would have been the best IMO.

I'd take any or all three of them NOA (hint hint) especially that White one or Limited Edition Red. Have they ever thought that some people have not bought or upgraded to a XL yet because they don't find the plain old Red and Blue attractive on their handheld device? I'd love, and I would definitely purchase, an all Black, White, or special edition model...

The yellow design on the red one makes it more preppy (in Style Savvy terms). Again, just about every region under Nintendo's scope has more than 2 XL models ... except NA.

Ooft that red and gold! Mmmm Can't wait for the US versions to be announced. I don't like them really , these are for a very chinese public I think , they would not sell in America in my opinion .

Yes and no....They've been in HK for a long time with the Ique brands, dating back to the Ique player (N64-like device with a unique controller and games only downloadable from a store kiosk for fear of piracy). In my experience, mainland Chinese gamers don't play consoles - they're prohibitively expensive when a pirated copy of PC games is sold for a buck from your local retailer. You can find a gameboy or a DS at a specialty electronics store in Tianjin (I found two on sale in a city of 14 million), but back in 2009 a regular DS with a copy of pokemon in traditional chinese cost around 1600 dollars worth of purchasing power (Over 250 actual USD after the exchange rate, at the time).

The thought is that the units are shipped to the US after some manufacturing in Japan or China, where they are finished and resent back to China. So China pays double tarriffs and taxes, and retailers can jack the prices up due to the exclusivity of the items.

In the end, Chinese gamers have to pay nearly 6.5 times more per system of their purchasing power.
It would be like paying over $1500 for a NDS in 2009.
I suppose the upside is China has hacked GBA and NDS cartridges to death, so they generally don't pay much (or anything at all) for the games themselves. I just want a plain Silver 3DSXL.

Ironic, isn't it? The land of the pirates (Arrrr!) gets the nicest 3DS, namely the Mario one to the left!! The Mario red gold is epic!!

I'm generally not a huge fan of the 3DS XL's appearance, but I kinda dig that checkered pattern on the white one. It still can't touch the cobalt blue Fire Emblem-decaled 3DS, though. Wish these were comming to NA, I for one am looking for a limited edtion 3DSXL or at least a good bundle!
