Maybe it’s a lucky number. The only runs New York mustered were unearned, coming in the fourth after a flustered Valdez committed two errors on the same play. If you add up the digits in their 106 victories, it equals seven, which is one of the luckiest numbers ever created.

I’m going to have to see them do it many more years before I start to consider whether I might believe some of it. To Yankees fans, that’s what he is (even though Altuve has steadfastly maintained that while he was aware of the Astros’ garbage-can shenanigans, he never benefited from them). The wind undoubtedly aided the Astros in Game 2, and this time it was the short porch. So during the All-Star break I got into the cage and really got after it, and tried to get mechanically sound. Chas McCormick’s two-run home run even struck the top of the wall before flying over.

It was a bit windy at Minute Maid Park in a rare game where the retractable roof was open, and it was unclear how much the conditions impacted flyballs. This time the Yankees even amassed a hit against Javier. His final at-bat Thursday, Altuve hit a scorching line drive off Jonathan Loaisiga that was ticketed for right field until Gleyber Torres got his glove on the short hop as he fell to the dirt, then started a 4-6-3 DP.
