From August 2018 to October 2021, he served in the Pakistan National Assembly before resigning from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. He previously served as a member of the National Assembly from 2002 to 2007 and as Minister of State for Religious Affairs in Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz’s federal cabinet from 2004 to 2007. He died of suffocation on June 9, 2022, in his room at his home, according to investigators.
