The 2020 Lamborghini Urus is one of the quickest and most outrageous SUVs on the planet right now. A 4.0-liter twin-turbo propels the hyper-SUV to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds and on to a top speed of 189.5 mph. With 641 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque on tap, few people will ever complain that the Urus doesn't feel fast enough, but Lamborghini will almost certainly offer fast versions in the future.

A Superleggera or Evo variant is pretty much guaranteed, but we've also seen renderings of more outlandish Urus-based models. Rendering artists imagined what a Urus pickup truck could look like and now, Kleber Silva digitally chopped the roof off to create a convertible. KDesign AG KDesign AG Silva likely based the rendering on the Europe-only Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet and then grafted on the front- and rear-end styling and the wheels from the Urus.

Admittedly, the T-Roc's short wheelbase looks too small for the Urus' proportions, but if this rendering was slightly longer, we think the design could look cool. Having two fewer doors and no rear hatch would significantly impede the Urus' practicality, but cruising with the roof down listening to the exhaust note of a 641-hp V8 engine sounds pretty appealing. Lamborghini Lamborghini Lamborghini Two-door SUV convertibles have a habit of failing in the United States, and a Urus cabriolet would be no different.

Land Rover recently attempted to make this idea work with the Range Rover Evoque Convertible, and no one could forget the epic failure of the Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet. Perhaps these models didn't die off because no one wanted a two-door convertible SUV.

Maybe they failed because neither offered a performance edge at the expense of practicality. A Urus Convertible would still be more practical than any other Lamborghini in the lineup, and it would still offer more speed than any reasonable person would ever use.
